Led early conceptual design and established system framework for Google Smart Displays. Contributing to several design patents and successful launch.
Voice-only interfaces had limitations for conveying complex information—lists, images, visual brand identity. Smart Displays brought Assistant to screens, creating a new device category that combined natural conversation with rich visual responses.
Led early conceptual design and established the system framework from the ground up. Designed conversational interfaces for Google Assistant across mobile, non-mobile devices, and cross-platform services.
Designing for all aspects of the experience: system architecture, conversation design, interaction patterns, visual language, and motion design. Created a cohesive framework that worked for shared spaces—kitchens, living rooms—where multiple people interact from varying distances.
The primary modality remained voice even with a screen present. Visual elements enhanced rather than replaced conversation. Designed suggestion chips, visual browsing for recipes and YouTube, step-by-step cooking guidance, and touch interactions that complemented voice commands.
